"Our main concern is the safety and well being of the keiki"

The Hawaii Lifeguard Hui provides an educational lifeguard service for school children Pre/K-12th grade. Our main concern is the safety and well being of our keiki. Our Lifeguards teach the children the importance of ocean safety and the process of risk management. During our educational beach day, students will learn how to identify beach hazards, and know what they should and shouldn’t do during an emergency. We also teach a simple acronym called “S.O.A.K.” which starts at the planning of your beach day.  After the ocean safety education lesson, the students will be able to enjoy their beach day with a new perspective and respect for the ocean.

Prepare our Keiki with ocean safety skills. Here in Hawaii we have some of the most unpredictable and dangerous ocean conditions in the world. Ocean conditions can change in a matter of minutes and rip currents can be unnoticed to the untrained and inexperienced eye.  It is crucial that our keiki are always supervised by an adult or lifeguard while they are at the beach.  As a professional Lifeguard, Emergency Medical Responder and father of two young keiki, I feel obligated to spread ocean safety awareness to the youth of Hawaii with a mission to create a safer beach environment for everyone.  The most valuable part of our lifeguard service is the ocean safety knowledge that we share.
